Wildfires have devastated Los Angeles, displacing thousands and destroying homes, schools, and more. The natural disaster has indiscriminately affected those in its path, including Louisville Cardinals QB Miller Moss and his family.
Miller Moss Reacts to Palisades Fire
Moss is a Southern California native who attended high school at Loyola in Los Angeles and Bishop Alemany in Mission Hills. After a standout prep career, he joined the USC Trojans as a four-star recruit in the 2021 class and has spent the last four years with the program.
In December, he announced his decision to transfer to the Louisville Cardinals, and he’s been on campus preparing for classes to begin.
However, his world was turned upside down when flames ravaged the Los Angeles area.
“I was born and raised in Pacific Palisades,” Moss said in a statement on X. “My family’s home, my grandmother’s home, as well as countless friends’ homes, have been reduced to ash and rubble.”
Several fires have erupted, but by far the largest is in the Pacific Palisades, a Los Angeles County neighborhood just east of Malibu. Although it began as a brush fire on Tuesday morning, powerful winds and dry conditions allowed it to spread to a perimeter of more than 31.9 square miles on Friday.
According to the latest report from the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection, the fire is 8% contained and has damaged or destroyed over 5,000 structures alone.
In his message, Moss said he would be “putting something together” to aid those in need over the coming weeks and would welcome any outside assistance.
Yet, just a day later, he responded to a post from The Hollywood Reporter, which showed two “strangers” playing basketball next to what remained of a home — his home.

As the community does its best to rally in a time of distress, Moss continues to shine a light on the devastation at hand while doing his part to inspire collective action from thousands of miles away.
