Following that humiliating 56-13 loss at the hands of Notre Dame, the University of Arkansas has finally given fans what they are asking for and suddenly fired head coach Sam Pittman.
This also came after a rough 2-3 start to the Razorbacks’ season, with fans calling for Pittman’s firing around halftime of that game against the Fighting Irish, with Notre Dame dominating Arkansas in a one-sided game throughout.

On3’s Pete Nakos confirmed the firing, and this has led many to react to this, with some fans shocked while others thought it was deserved.
“Mike Gundy time,” one X user said.
“This is ridiculous,” one commenter wrote.
“Gonna be a lot more of this in CFB now with NIL and the portal. They’re paying players so these ADs expecting quicker results. The years of those long tenured coaches are over UNLESS you’re winning,” one fan pointed out.
“Before you guys send hate towards Sam Pittman, remember you aren’t just attacking a coach, but a father, husband, and a Jew. One bad game shouldn’t take away what he’s brought to this program and we should look forward to continue seeing him lead our Razorbacks!” one defender said.
“They will now be on their third head coach since firing Bret Bielema‼️ Do you think maybe they regret some of their decision making? 🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡” another fan noted.
“This was the right decision, and one that needed to happen after yesterday. Too many times this team had a strong start to the season just to implode and collapse after the first 2-3 games. Hopefully Petrino can slide right in and right the ship,” a fan added.
This was Pittman’s first job as a head coach, as he previously worked as Arkansas’ offensive line coach under Bret Bielema and was also the OL coach for Georgia from 2016 to 2019. At the meantime, Bobby Petrino will be taking over as the Razorbacks’ interim head coach.

How Much Will Sam Pittman’s Buyout Be?
With the firing of Sam Pittman, this raises a big question for Arkansas, and that is how much will the school pay for his buyout? According to Pete Nakos, his buyout will be unique, as revealed in his contract.
The now-former Arkansas head coach’s contract states that if his record is above .500 from 2021, he will receive around 75% of his remaining salary. His record stood at 29-27 before his firing, which means he will receive $9.8 million. If that had been below the .500 mark, he would have just been paid $6.9 million, which is only 50% of his remaining salary, as stated in his contract.
