Marshall EDGE Mike Green has established himself as one of the top defensive players in the 2025 NFL Draft, with speculation that he may sneak into the top 10.
His skills on the field are undeniable, but some things off the field could affect where he’s selected on draft day.

Where Could Mike Green Be Drafted?
Green had a terrific season with the Thundering Herd in 2024-25, registering an FBS-leading 17 sacks, 38 solo tackles, and three forced fumbles.
He landed with Marshall after a season with the Virginia Cavaliers. During his time in Virginia, he was accused of sexual assault in two separate instances, leading Green to seek a fresh start with a new program. No charges have been filed, and Green denies the accusations.
Despite that, some NFL decision-makers—Philadelphia Eagles general manager Howie Roseman among them—are reportedly weary of taking a chance on a player with a potentially stained past.
But if they can look past that and believe in his character, Green is a force on the gridiron. He excels at getting to the quarterback using a myriad display of moves, his elite flexibility, and his change of direction.
Additionally, he’s on the smaller side, measuring in at 251 pounds at the NFL Combine. While that leaves concern for how he’ll perform against the run at the next level, it favors him rushing the passer, as his quickness was on full display last season and when he’s been on the field for pre-draft workouts and postseason practices.
CSN’s latest Mock Draft has Green selected by the Arizona Cardinals with the 16th overall pick, while our Big Board has him rated as the 17th-highest prospect.
Green will likely be gone before the draft reaches the 20s, but it remains to be seen what team will take a chance on the former Thundering Herd EDGE.
ESPN’s Mel Kiper Jr. Has Green Being Drafted No. 15 Overall
Highly esteemed draft expert Mel Kiper Jr. has many sources within the league, so his prediction of Green going to the Atlanta Falcons at 15th overall deserves some merit.
The Falcons have long needed a pass rusher, as — infamously — their last double-digit sacker was Vic Beasley in 2016. That’s nearly a decade without an elite pass rusher.
Green would have a chance to grow into that as his playmaking skills off the edge would be used from day one.
