The recent arrival of five-star quarterback prospect Bryce Underwood has exacerbated the Michigan Wolverines’ quarterback situation, raising concerns about the future of current freshman QB Jadyn Davis.
Underwood, one of the nation’s top incoming high school quarterbacks, just switched his commitment from the LSU Tigers to Michigan, making the future of Big Blue’s starting signal-caller even more uncertain.

Davis has publicly stated his intention to fight for the starting quarterback position despite the recent arrivals of Underwood and former Fresno State quarterback Mikey Keene from the transfer portal.
When questioned about the option of entering the transfer portal due to the escalated battle, the freshman told Rivals.com on Friday, “I’ve never been scared to compete.”
This remark has received a variety of responses from enthusiasts across social media.
“You think they paying 12Ms to compete?” one poster commented.
“Being a four-star and watching your team pay 8 figures for someone gotta be hella motivating,” another posted.
Davis arrived at Michigan as a four-star player from Providence High School in Charlotte, North Carolina. Per the 2024 On3 Industry Rankings, he was the No. 8 quarterback in the class. However, Davis received minimal exposure during his true freshman season.
The addition of Underwood, who switched his commitment from LSU to Michigan due to the assistance of boosters such as NFL star Tom Brady and Oracle founder Larry Ellison, has raised competition in the quarterback room to a whole new level.
Head coach Sherrone Moore recently said that the starting quarterback position is open and will be decided by performance.
