The Michigan Wolverines lost Donovan Edwards and Kalel Mullings to the NFL this offseason. The pair of backs combined for 1,573 yards on the ground in 2024, giving Michigan one of the better rushing offenses in college football.
With the Wolverines losing that production, they must turn to others to replace it. Here are some guys Michigan will turn to as their starters in 2025.

What Does the Michigan RB Room Look Like Ahead of the 2025 College Football Season?
Justice Haynes (Junior)
Justice Hayes is the most impactful transfer that Michigan landed this offseason. The former Alabama star rushed for 448 yards and seven touchdowns on 5.7 yards per carry in 2024.
While he was an every-down back for the Crimson Tide last year, he has the talent and toughness to handle that workload for the Wolverines this season, and should be their clear-cut starter heading into 2025.
Jordan Marshall (RS Freshman)
Marshall was a freshman for the Wolverines, and while he saw some playing time, he did not appear in more than four games, which allowed the Wolverines to redshirt him. On only 31 carries, Marshall ran for 120 yards and showed off some real talent in 2024.
Marshall was a four-star in the 2024 recruiting class, ranked as the 12th-best running back and the 155th overall player by 247Sports. I expect him to receive a lot of carries in 2024 and be a good rotational piece for the Wolverines.

Micah Ka’apana (RS Freshman)
Micah Ka’apana was also a member of the Wolverines’ 2024 recruiting class. Ka’apana did not receive any playing time last season, but is projected to be the third running back on Michigan’s depth chart heading into 2025.
The Hawaii native transferred to Bishop Gorman in Nevada to play more competitive high school football. After a great senior year, Ka’apana was 247Sports’ 35th running back and number two overall player from Nevada in the 2024 recruiting class. Michigan scooped him up and now relies on him to handle some sort of workload in 2025.
