The rivalry between the Michigan Wolverines and the Ohio State Buckeyes is one of the most intense rivalries in American sports of any level.
The fire was further fuelled recently by a statement from Donovan Edwards, Michigan’s running back. While speaking during an interview, Edwards made a playful jab at Ohio State, reminding everyone that Michigan had beaten their arch-rivals recently.

Donovan Edwards’ Bold Statement
Reporter Simone Eli shared a video on X of an interview with Edwards during Senior Bowl practice last week. In the video, Edwards boasted that his Wolverines had beaten Ohio State four years in a row.
“Sh*t, which ones? I’ll do ya one better…”
“Much respect to Ohio State, gotta give it to ‘em… also beat them four times in a row!”

Edwards smirked following his statement showing his confidence in Michigan to keep the streak alive. His playful dig immediately went viral, with fans from both sides reacting strongly to his remarks.
Fans flooded social media with reactions to Edwards’ comments. Wolverines fans celebrated Edwards’ confidence, while Ohio State supporters used it as motivation for the upcoming season. The Buckeyes will surely have this clip pinned in their locker room as bulletin board material.
Michigan’s Recent Dominance Over Ohio State
Edwards wasn’t lying. The Wolverines have been on a winning streak, reversing the long-supreme advantage that Ohio State once held over Michigan.
In 2021, Michigan snapped the eight-game losing streak with a 42-27 victory in Ann Arbor. The next season, they beat the Buckeyes even worse—this time in Columbus. 2023 was closer, but “UM” still walked away victorious. Most recently, Michigan won for a fourth-straight time, their first streak of this length since 1988-1991.
What’s Next for Edwards and the Wolverines?
With the 2024 college football season in the books, all eyes will be on the annual showdown between Michigan and Ohio State, which has now produced the last two national champions.
While Edwards may have never lost to the Buckeyes, he’ll now be transitioning to playing on Sundays in the NFL.
