Dave Portnoy has decided to step up and save the Big Ten’s reputation. No, he isn’t physically going to do anything about it. But Portnoy, a lifelong fan of the Michigan Wolverines, has a plan for it.
The Ohio State Buckeyes lost 14-24 to the Miami Hurricanes. Miami dominated the game, taking a 14-point lead at halftime. The Buckeyes tried their best to bounce back in the second half, but their efforts fell short.
Portnoy was visibly frustrated by the loss, not because he supports the Buckeyes but because they represent the Big Ten as well, and he believes the loss has tarnished their reputation. Portnoy expressed his frustration with a video on social media.
The $250 million worth Barstool founder said that the loss felt “embarrassing”. Portnoy likes to believe that the Big Ten is the best conference in the country, and one of their “premier” teams just lost to an ACC team.
While he was doing his animated rant against Ohio State, the Miami Hurricanes scored a touchdown.
“F*cking so embarrassing. So f*cking embarrassing. Cowards,” Portnoy said.
He went on to promise that the Michigan Wolverines will revive the conference. A week ago, the Wolverines didn’t even have a head coach and were trying to get out of the drama that was caused by their former head coach, Sherrone Moore.
Now, Portnoy believes that with Kyle Whittingham at the helm, the Wolverines are strong enough to get the job done.
“Here’s what I promise, America,” Portnoy said. “Kyle Whittingham, our coach, will restore this conference and the premier team in the conference.”

Portnoy has promised that Michigan will clean up the “mess” left behind by Ohio State.

Kyle Whittingham is the Right Fit for Michigan
The Wolverines have endured a lot in the last few months. The players and coaching staff have gone through a phase of uncertainty regarding the future of the program, all while they didn’t even have a permanent head coach.
Then, a week ago, the Wolverines signed Kyle Whittingham, the former head coach of the Utah Utes, who led the program for over two decades and boasts a 177-88 record. More importantly, he is free from all controversies.
Whittingham is known for building a culture and providing stability to a program. Those are the qualities that the Michigan Wolverines have been looking for in their head coach. Whether he’ll revive the Big Ten’s reputation or not remains to be seen, but Michigan would be happy just to have a capable coach right now.
