Former NFL star quarterback Michael Vick is starting the next stage of his football career. After retiring from the NFL in 2015, Vick has not fully committed to a new career. However, he is now starting his coaching career and is getting ready for his first season leading Norfolk State in 2025.
On Friday, Vick posted a video on Instagram of him competing with Norfolk State’s athletic director, Demarcus McMillan, in a throwing competition. While Vick is a former pro QB, he is no longer at his best, as he appeared to injure himself at the end of the video.

Michael Vick had an impressive NFL Career
After representing Virginia Tech in college football, Michael Vick played in the NFL from 2001 to 2015. During this phase, he threw for 22,464 yards and 133 touchdowns.
Vick earned the NFL Comeback Player of the Year award in 2010 and made the Pro Bowl four times in his career.
However, since retiring from football a decade ago, the 45-year-old has not ventured into coaching seriously.
Vick has had a few brief appearances in the coaching world, but none stuck. In 2017, he joined the Kansas City Chiefs for their training camp after showing interest in coaching. However, he opted to take a job as an NFL analyst for Fox instead.
Then in 2018, Vick was hired as the offensive coordinator of the Atlanta Legends in the Alliance of American Football. However, shortly before the season started, Vick took a step back, serving as a consultant instead.
Vick was announced as Norfolk State’s head coach on Dec. 20 last year. He will look to improve the team after a 4-8 record in the 2024 season.
