The No. 2 Ohio State Buckeyes will be facing off against the No. 10 Miami Hurricanes in the Cotton Bowl on New Year’s Eve. Now, one Miami Hurricanes legend, Michael Irving, has not yet forgotten what happened during the 2003 National Championship game between these two teams, and as the predictions are heating up, Irving offered his own take while speaking with Dave Portnoy.
Irving, a Super Bowl champion with the Dynasty Dallas Cowboys in the 90s, was also a legend at Miami, and he let his true feelings about what he thinks will happen during the 2025 Cotton Bowl on Wednesday:
“I gotta tell you, this is history repeating itself. they didn’t think we gonna knock off the big schools like we did, the Notre Dames, the Nebraskas, the Oklahomas,” he told Portnoy.
This led Portnoy to that infamous 2003 national title game, which Irvin still believes that Miami should have won and that the Buckeyes cheated.
“It wasn’t they beat, they cheat. It wasn’t the word, they cheated Miami,” said Irvin.

This led to Irvin guaranteeing that Miami will finally get its revenge on Ohio State in one of the biggest stages of them all.
What Are the Odds of the Miami Hurricanes Beating the Ohio State Buckeyes at the Cotton Bowl?
It is clear that the Ohio State Buckeyes are coming into the 2025 Cotton Bowl as the clear favorites against Miami, which did pull off that upset against the Texas A&M Aggies. The Hurricanes are aiming to pull another big upset against a team ranked much higher this time, but how high are the odds?
According to BetMGM Sportsbook, as of Saturday, Ohio State is the favorite by -9.5 with an over/under of 42 1/2. This means that Miami will be coming in as a bigger underdog than when they took on Texas A&M. As for the moneyline, it is -350 for the Buckeyes and +280 for the Hurricanes.
With Miami aiming to make lightning strike twice, the Cotton Bowl, officially known as the Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic, will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 31, at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. It was previously held at the Cotton Bowl in Dallas.
