5-star wide receiver Micah Hudson has made a stunning return to Texas Tech University. The announcement was made yesterday, marking an important phase in Hudson’s young career, one clogged with controversy, promise, and a deep connection to the Raiders.
For a program that has been on a steady rise under the tutelage of coach Joey McGuire, Hudson’s return is a wonderful addition, presenting for Texas Tech, hopes for a breakout season, in the competitive Big 12 conference.

Micah Hudson’s Return Reignites Hopes At Texas Tech
Hudson’s journey has not been straightforward. He was once a high school All-American and the first-ever 5-star signee in Texas Tech’s history; his move to the Red Raiders in 2024 was a vital part of McGuire’s exciting recruitment revival.

However, having spent one season in Lubbock, he proceeded to the transfer portal and entered into an agreement with A&M, a transfer that caught Raider’s in surprise. What followed was a sequence of events that transformed Hudson into a controversial figure in college football, finalizing his surprising return to Texas Tech.
Hudson’s time at Texas A&M was a little short and, in a way, disordered. After signing an agreement in the spring of 2025, he immediately took leave of absence from the program, as reported by sources in mid-January earlier this year.
Rumor has it that there is a clash involving Hudson and a Texas A&M QB, with some sources reporting that it escalated to a physical confrontation. These unconfirmed reports have since fueled speculation that Hudson’s time with the Aggies was destined to result in failure right from the start.
By March 19, 2025, a few sources confirmed that he had officially parted ways with Texas A&M, preparing for his next action.
The possibility of Hudson’s return had been a topic of lively conversation since he parted with the A&M. The NCAA transfer portal window was opened from April 10 to April 25, 2025, provided the avenue for him to make his move, and just yesterday, he announced his decision returning to Lubbock with a heartfelt message that read:
“Red Raider Nation,
Lubbock has always been home, and I’m forever grateful
to the Coaching staff, teammates and fans who make that
possible. I’m back to finish what I started. This experience
taught me a lot about myself and what it truly means to be
a part of the Texas Tech family.
God bless!
Wreck’Em,
Micah Hudson”

As evident in this statement, Hudson expressed gratitude to the Lubbock community, his teammates, and, needless to mention, the fans who supported him through the challenging period. He, as well, recognized the opportunity to grow from his experiences, projecting a newfound maturity that might open up great possibilities for him as he progresses in his career.
