Micah Hudson, a former five-star wide receiver, is set to re-enter the college football transfer portal following a short-lived and turbulent period at Texas A&M. Initially transferring from Texas Tech, where he managed just eight catches for 124 yards as a freshman, Hudson was expected to thrive with the Aggies.
However, his time in College Station was cut short due to personal challenges.

Former Five-Star WR Micah Hudson Re-Enters Transfer Portal
Texas A&M wide receiver Hudson is set to re-enter the NCAA transfer portal, as confirmed by On3’s Pete Nakos. This news follows Texas A&M head coach Mike Elko’s Wednesday announcement that Hudson was no longer with the program.
Hudson originally transferred to Texas A&M from Texas Tech this offseason but never played a snap for the Aggies. During his freshman year with the Red Raiders in 2024, he appeared in eight games, recording eight receptions for 123 yards while dealing with injuries.

Texas Tech head coach Joey McGuire previously detailed the challenges Hudson faced, explaining how injuries disrupted his development.
“The injury affected him to where going through camp, of like how he was progressing and getting caught up, and then he really got to where we were like, ‘OK, he’s really got his legs beneath him, here we go,’ and then he gets hurt again,”
McGuire said in December. He also mentioned Hudson’s missed opportunities, including a potential game-winning touchdown against TCU.
According to Nakos, a return to Texas Tech remains a possibility. This wouldn’t be unprecedented, as seen with offensive lineman Kadyn Proctor, who initially transferred from Alabama to Iowa before returning to the Crimson Tide in the spring of 2024.
The NCAA’s spring transfer window runs from April 16 to April 25, meaning Hudson must wait until then to officially enter his name.
Hudson was among the most highly regarded transfers this past season, ranking No. 10 overall and No. 5 among wide receivers in On3’s portal rankings. While at Texas Tech, he primarily played as a backup but did make one start.
Speculation about Hudson’s future with the Aggies had been ongoing. In January, 247Sports’ Matt Zenitz reported,
“(It’s) extremely up in the air right now, so it’s a hard situation to get a read on.”
Despite Texas A&M holding a spot open for Hudson, his return never materialized. A five-star recruit from Lake Belton High School in Temple, Texas, Hudson was ranked No. 12 overall and No. 4 among wide receivers in the 2024 recruiting cycle.

Texas A&M has added several receivers through the portal, including former NC State standout Keven Concepcion, who amassed 1,299 receiving yards and 12 touchdowns over two seasons.
However, the Aggies also lost key players, including Noah Thomas, their leading receiver from last year. A&M finished 8-5 in its first season under Elko and aims to improve in 2025.
