“Deserved” “ACC Doesn’t Deserve A Spot”: Fans Divided As Miami Shocks Notre Dame With Ultimate Selection Sunday Twist

The college football playoff committee has released its top 12 teams, who are touted to compete for the national championship in the playoffs.

The Selection Day on Sunday saw the Miami Hurricanes occupy the 10th spot in the rankings, subsequently getting a nod over Notre Dame in the playoff selections despite Notre Dame ranking higher in previous rankings.

Something that could have tilted the scales in the Hurricanes’ favor could have been the fact that they defeated Notre Dame in their week 1 fixture, which, according to the CFP head-to-head selection rules, is a valid metric in a team’s playoff selection.

However, social media was split down the middle with this decision, with some fans in favor of the Hurricanes getting a playoff berth, while a certain section of the fan base expressed their frustration on X about Notre Dame’s exclusion.

“BANG! Miami deserved to be in. Notre Dame should have been in over Bama imo”, wrote a fan.

“ACC doesn’t deserve a spot”, stated a fan.

“The Irish have been ranked higher for a month and then got passed after a weekend in which neither team played. That makes no sense whatsoever”, said a fan.

“they had ND ahead in all the rankings especially this last set that released and neither ND or Miami played so this was the plan all along. This tells you the weekly rankings are a joke”, commented a fan.

“Good! Miami beat them”, wrote another fan.

    “Correct move”, remarked a fan

“There is logic to why they flipped other than they feel bad for the ACC”, commented another fan.

Indiana, Ohio State, Georgia, Texas Tech, Oregon, Ole Miss, Texas A&M, Oklahoma, Alabama, Miami, Tulane, and James Madison are slated to play the 2025 CFB playoffs, occupying the top twelve positions, respectively.

Miami Set to Face Texas A&M in Playoff Clash

Miami opened their 2025 CFB season with a win over Notre Dame whilst also winning games against South Florida and Florida, which propelled them up to No. 2 in the AP Top 25 during the season.

However, losses against Louisville and SMU put their playoff hopes under doubt, but four wins towards the tail end of the season saw the Miami-based side clinch the 10th spot in CFP rankings.

The Miami Hurricanes are now slated to face Texas A&M in their playoff fixture on 20th December.
