The NFL Draft usually highlights its biggest stars earlier in the process. Miami Hurricanes QB Cam Ward, Colorado Buffaloes WR/CB and 2024 Heisman winner Travis Hunter, Hunter’s QB Shedeur Sanders, and Penn State EDGE Abdul Carter have all had outstanding seasons for their respective colleges, and all are expected to be picked in the first round of the April draft.
While the pre-draft process benefits everyone, outings like the East-West Shrine Bowl and the Senior Bowl provide opportunities for players not in the spotlight to strengthen their draft stock. Miami WR Xavier Restrepo is a prime example of this.
Xavier Restrepo’s Draft Stock Soars Ahead of the 2025 NFL Draft
Longtime draft insider for ESPN, Mel Kiper Jr., announced his “MOST UNDERRATED” prospects for the 2025 NFL Draft class, and Restrepo was among them.
“Natural pass catcher,” Kiper reported. “He just has a natural feel and ability and he wants the ball. Some guys fear [the ball]; he wants the ball in clutch situations…Restrepo will be a guy right away who will make his presence felt.”
Restrepo took advantage of the 2025 Senior Bowl to boost his draft prospects. His killer route-running and dependable hands were on full show, securing his status as a top receiver.
Analysts praised his agility off the line and ability to recognize weak spots in defenses, both of which are qualities sought after at the next level.
In terms of NFL comparisons, Kiper compared Restrepo to former Clemson Tigers and current Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Hunter Renfrow. Restrepo, who is 5’10”, 195 pounds, is expected to play slot receiver in the NFL.
His IQ, route-running skills, and ability to make plays after the catch make him an invaluable addition to teams looking for a consistent presence in the short-to-intermediate passing game.
