Ahead of the much-anticipated Big 12 championship game between the Texas Tech Raiders and BYU in Texas, a passionate group of Miami Hurricanes fans stole the spotlight with a message flying across the sky for everyone to see.
As the College Football Playoff Selection Committee gathered in Grapevine, Texas, the Hurricanes fans found a unique way to grab their attention as they flew a banner near the committee’s hotel, which read:
“H2H Matters. Miami in”

The timing of the Miami fans’ special message for the CFP committee comes as they prepare to make their final decisions on the 12-team playoff bracket.
With Miami sitting at 10-2 and ranked 12th in the latest CFP rankings, the fans made sure that their team’s head-to-head victory over Notre Dame back in Week 1 should account for a potential playoff berth.
This head-to-head metric is a part of the committee’s procedure in deciding the rankings. When evaluating teams, the selection committee looks at on-field performance, giving weight to factors such as conference titles, overall strength of schedule, direct head-to-head matchups, and how teams performed against shared opponents when comparing similarly matched programs.
A total of 12 teams will make the playoff, and the committee will automatically include the top five conference champions in its rankings.
The most awaited “Selection Day,” where the committee will announce its final rankings, is scheduled to take place between 12 and 3 pm ET on Sunday, December 7.

BYU Trails Texas Tech 10–7 Late In The Second Quarter
The BYU Cougars currently trail the Texas Tech Raiders 10-7 in the Big 12 championship game with under five minutes remaining in the second quarter.
While both the programs would like to win the coveted title, this game is especially important for the Cougars, as their playoff spot is contingent on their victory against Texas Tech.
A win against the Raiders will get BYU in the good books of the CFP committee, potentially propelling them into the playoffs, while Texas Tech won’t fall out of the bracket even if they lose this encounter.
