    ‘You Getting Old’ — Kiyan Anthony Shares Hilarious Birthday Post For Father Carmelo Anthony

    Kiyan Anthony, Son of 2025 NBA Hall of Fame inductee Carmelo Anthony, shared a hilarious birthday post celebrating his dad, Carmelo Anthony, on his special day. Kiyan, 18 played basketball for Long Island Lutheran High School in New York and will be donning the same Syracuse orange that his father did years ago.

    Kiyan Anthony announced he will commit to Syracuse for his collegiate basketball career in November 2024, despite offers from Indiana, Illinois, Michigan, Seton Hall, Florida State, Pittsburgh, Tennessee, and Memphis. Let’s take a look at what Kiyan said of his father on his big day.

    Kiyan Anthony Wishes Father Carmelo a “Happy Birthday” In Hilarious Fashion

    Carmelo Anthony, a legendary NBA player, was born on May 29, 1984, 41 years ago, so his son decided to share a picture on his social media wishing him a happy birthday.

    In a post shared on his Instagram story, Kiyan captioned a picture of him sitting courtside with his father, “You getting old champ, Happy Birthday GOAT.”

    Carmelo Anthony is a legend in college basketball history as he recorded one of the best “one-and-done” seasons in NCAA history. He led Syracuse to a national title in 2003 as a freshman while being named the NCAA Tournament’s Most Outstanding Player.

    This legacy left behind will be a huge challenge for Kiyan to surpass as he’s set to begin his own path at Syracuse next season.

    Anthony was rated a four-star recruit by On3 and was ranked No. 33 in the 2025 class, the No. 11 shooting guard, and the top player in New York.

    “My dad’s name on the facility is special, but I want to go in there and create my own name,” Kiyan said in an interview. “I’m my own player and I want to do even bigger things.”

    Kiyan led the Long Island Lutheran Crusaders to become champions of The Throne, one of the most prestigious high school basketball tournaments in the country. He also took home the MVP award. Both Kiyan and Carmelo have said multiple times that Kiyan isn’t under any pressure to surpass senior Anthony’s exploits at Syracuse.

    In an interview, Carmelo said, “I just want him to go have fun. Go have fun, enjoy the college experience. I want him to enjoy being a college basketball player.”

    Carmelo later added, “I just want him to get on campus, have a good year, develop, get better on the court… Now, it’s about basketball. It’s about developing; you don’t have no [sic] time for anything else. It’s books and ball.”

    He continued, “I think having him in that environment where he can just lock in and just focus. He’s on campus, he understands that this is college basketball and what comes with that.”
