Yaxel Lendeborg has become an absolute force in the world of college basketball since joining the University of Alabama at Birmingham just two years ago. Now, after another successful season with UAB, Lendeborg is looking for a better opportunity and to find a new school to call his home.
Standing 6’9″, Lendeborg averaged 17.7 points, 11.4 rebounds, 4.2 assists, and 1.8 blocks per game. As expected, he’s already drawing a ton of interest from top-tier programs, including a handful of Southeastern Conference, SEC, programs. Here are five potential landing spots for the UAB powerhouse forward.

Top Landing Spots for Yaxel Lendeborg
The first team to kickoff this list could come in the Michigan Wolverines. Head coach Dusty May is tasked with the challenge of filling the shoes of two NBA-caliber bigs, Vlad Goldin and Danny Wolf. Bringing in a 6’9″ walking double-double could be a fantastic first step to fill that void.
Another college we could see potentially land Lendeborg comes to us in Tennessee, the Memphis Tigers. Memphis tried to bring home Lendeborg before his 2022 season, but he ultimately chose UAB. Lendeborg has been on the Memphis radar now for quite some time, and now they have yet another opportunity to bring in the big man.
After losing Johni Broome and Chaney Johnson, the Auburn Tigers could be in the market for another big man. A year with a power-five school like Auburn could bring up his draft stock that much more. Bringing in a walking double-double could help fill the void of Broome’s impending departure to the NBA Draft.
A dark horse team to land Lendeborg could come in the St. John’s Red Storm. After losing guard R.J. Luis Jr. entered the transfer portal, they are going to certainly look to add talent.
Lendeborg would be a fantastic player inside of a system run by Rick Pitino, and they could entice him by getting him to play at Madison Square Garden in the biggest city in the world, New York City.
The final team that could potentially land Lendeborg is the Tennessee Volunteers. The Volunteers made the Elite Eight this season before being eliminated by the Houston Cougars. With a couple of big players potentially leaving, landing Lendeborg could help keep the Volunteers on the map.
