The 18-year-old has often been compared to Jabari Smith Jr. due to his shooting ability. However, his athleticism, height, and mid-range game are quite similar to Philadelphia 76ers star Paul George’s initial years at the Indiana Pacers.
In his freshman year with California State University, George averaged 14.3 points, 6.3 rebounds, two assists, and 1.7 steals per game, a statline quite similar to Bailey with the Ruthers. The 18-year-old averaged 17.6 points, 1.3 assists, 7.3 rebounds, and 1 steal per game.
Additionally, both players are known for their two-way contributions on the offensive and defensive ends. Bailey can also guard multiple positions, just like the 76ers’ star. Both players have almost similar wingspan, which aids them in defensive contributions and steals.
George bypassed his final two seasons of college eligibility at Fresno State and declared for the 2010 NBA Draft, where he was selected by the Pacers.
He also became the highest NBA draft pick in the history of Fresno State. On the other hand, Bailey, a consensus five-star recruit, had many offers from high-profile programs like Ohio State, Kentucky, Kansas, Texas, and Oregon before he provided his commitment to play for Rutgers.
The player in his lone season with the college became the highest-ranked recruit in the history of the school.
The Chattanooga, Tennessee, native declared for the 2025 NBA Draft after his freshman season and will not return to college.
