Chris Jeffery, a highly touted four-star combo guard, has decided to reopen his recruitment after decommitting from Maryland men’s basketball, as first reported by On3. Ranked No. 70 nationally and No. 3 in Maryland by 247Sports, the 6’3″, 200-pound guard initially pledged to the Terps on Oct. 2.

His decision comes amid a wave of roster departures and uncertainty at the head coaching position. With his decommitment, Maryland’s 2025 recruiting class is now empty.
Jeffery reopened his recruitment after initially committing to Maryland. The prospect originally selected the Terrapins over Texas A&M and Mississippi State and also received offers from Butler, Michigan, Oklahoma State, Penn State, and Tennessee.
Ranked No. 137 overall and No. 18 among point guards in the 2025 class by the On3 Industry Ranking, Jeffrey is viewed more favorably by On3 itself. In its latest update, On3 places him as the nation’s No. 57 prospect, the No. 8 point guard, and the No. 3 player in New York. Here are the top landing spots.
