In Kansas City, Team CP3, led by NBA veteran Chris Paul, secured a victory over Meanstreets in the Nike Elite Youth Basketball League (EYBL). One of the best performances of the night came from none other than Chris Paul II, the 16-year-old son of the San Antonio Spurs point guard.
Paul II showcased his young talent, giving the crowd a sneak peek of what could be expected at the next level. As he continues to grow, time will tell how he compares to his father. Early on, though, he seems awfully similar.

Team CP3’s win was a testament to the untapped potential of the young roster. Chris Paul II, affectionately nicknamed “Lil’ Chris,” was phenomenal, showing a skill and form that somewhat mirrored his father’s court vision.
The EYBL matchup had Paul II drive the offense with slick passes and scoring, helping Team CP3 get the upper hand against the Meanstreets squad. Clips of Paul II’s performance went viral on social media, with fans praising his smooth handles and clutch play.

Nike EYBL was fashioned from the start to be a premier platform for high school talent, helping them build their career in the sport. With Paul II’s performance, it seems the mission is standing up to be a success. On the other hand, Team CP3’s victory further shows how seriously Paul is committed to nurturing the next generation of basketball.
Paul’s influence also extends to the NBA, where the 40-year-old signed a one-year, $11 million deal with the Spurs in 2024. Paired with 21-year-old star Victor Wembanyama, Paul has embraced the mentorship role for the youngsters of his team.
In his 20th season, he averaged 8.8 points, 7.4 assists, 3.6 rebounds, and 1.3 steals across all 82 games, which is remarkable durability for a player his age.

Off the court, Paul’s focus on family is very apparent. On May 25, he celebrated his son’s 16th birthday with a heartfelt Instagram post.
“16!!! Happy Birthday son!! I love you so much… It’s a real privilege to be your dad!!”
The post drew warm responses from former NBA stars like Jamal Crawford and Isaiah Thomas.

Paul II’s EYBL milestone comes as his father nears the end of an illustrious career. While LeBron James dreams of playing alongside both of his sons, Paul may never get the same privilege. Still, you can bet he’ll be on the sidelines cheering for his son.
