Alabama’s Nate Oats, Kentucky’s Mark Pope, and Auburn’s Bruce Pearl were among those watching Kinney average 25.3 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 3.8 assists across four games, shooting an impressive 58.7% from the field.
Kinney’s performance in Omaha was a magnet for the nation’s elite programs. Scouts noted him as a nightmare to opponent guards. Some also shared that his ability to create his own shot and make plays for others is rare for a high schooler.
The attendance of Power Five coaches, including Louisville’s Pat Kelsey and Purdue’s Matt Painter, who have already hosted Kinney on visits, gave us and the fans more than enough hints to speculate Kinney’s future.
