UNC Basketball Recruiting: Hubert Davis’ Top 5 Targets Part of Rivals 150 List Ft. Tyran Stokes

Hubert Davis and UNC are stepping up their recruiting efforts after a disappointing showing in the 2025 NCAA Tournament. They have extended offers to several players who made it to the top 10 of the Rivals 150 list. Here are Davis’ top five targets for North Carolina’s Class of 2026.

Hubert Davis’ Top 5 Targets for UNC’s Class of 2026

    1. Tyran Stokes

There is no doubt that Tyran Stokes is the prized jewel among the Class of 2026 recruits. He is widely regarded as the consensus top prospect in the 2026 Class, with Rivals 150 placing him No. 1 on its latest rankings.

It comes as no surprise, then, that a bunch of powerhouse teams have extended offers to Stokes, including Hubert Davis’ UNC. Joining North Carolina in the five-star forward’s pursuit are Kansas, Louisville, Alabama, Auburn, Texas Tech, UCLA, Houston and Michigan. He has already made visits to Kansas and Louisville ahead of his commitment decision.

    2. Dylan Mingo

The North Carolina Tar Heels have also shown interest in Dylan Mingo, who jumped to No. 3 in the latest Rivals 150 rankings. Hubert Davis and his staff extended an offer to the combo guard last May after he excelled for Long Lutheran High. He continued his superb form over the summer, drawing praise from college basketball analyst Sam Kayser.

Apart from UNC, Kayser noted that Missouri, Oklahoma, Texas, Virginia, Miami and UConn are the other schools in contact with Mingo recently. Getting the talented prospect won’t be easy for Davis and the Tar Heels.

    3. Caleb Holt

Caleb Holt has been one of Hubert Davis’ early targets in the Class of 2026, with the 6-foot-5, 200-pound star receiving an offer from North Carolina in July of last year. Holt, who led Grayson High School (Ga.) to the state title game last season, recently transferred to Florida to play his senior season for Prolific Prep.

Holt has attracted the attention of several powerhouse schools, including Kansas, Kentucky, Tennessee, Auburn, Alabama, Baylor, Houston, Arkansas and Providence. Holt won the MVP award at this year’s adidas Eurocamp in Italy after he led his team to a championship win. He averaged 17.0 points, 8.0 rebounds, 3.3 steals and 2.7 assists per contest in the title run.

    4. Anthony Thompson

Hubert Davis and his staff got some great news about their pursuit of Anthony Thompson after he announced that he has scheduled a visit to Chapel Hill on August 22. Thompson is one of the top high school players in the country, holding the No. 5 position in the Rivals 150 rankings.

North Carolina will be the first school the 6-foot-7 wing will visit this month. He has also scheduled trips to Ohio State, Michigan, Indiana, Texas and Kentucky after his visit to the UNC campus.

    5. Deron Rippey Jr.

The North Carolina Tar Heels have made progress as well with their pursuit of Deron Rippey Jr., who moved to No. 8 in the Rivals 150 list. Rippey scheduled a visit to Chapel Hill later this month, with his trip to UNC set to take place from Aug. 31 to Sept. 2.

Rippey has made no secret of his love for UNC, calling North Carolina one of his dream schools. Hubert Davis hopes he can secure the point guard’s commitment soon.
