A Legacy Rooted in Heritage and Family
From the moment Treysen Eaglestaff laced up his first pair of basketball shoes, he knew his last name carried weight. That’s because Treysen is the nephew of Robert Eaglestaff, a North Dakota Hall of Famer and one of the most celebrated Native American athletes in school history. Treysen was named in honor of Robert, and his decision to play for the University of North Dakota (UND) was more than just athletic; it was deeply personal.
Carrying on the family legacy, Treysen followed in his uncle’s footsteps by donning the Fighting Hawks jersey, but his journey was also driven by the values instilled by his mother, Erica Sundahl. Erica, a former community college basketball player herself, introduced Treysen to the game at a young age. By the time he was 2 years old, he was already dribbling in the gym alongside her.
As the primary influence in Treysen’s early basketball development, Erica Sundahl played a crucial role in shaping his work ethic and discipline. Her experience as a basketball player gave her the tools to teach young Treysen the fundamentals of the game, skills he would go on to refine over the years into his lethal shooting and high basketball IQ.

Now standing at 6-foot-6, Eaglestaff is a dominant force on both ends of the court. Known for his sharp shooting and team-first playmaking, he averaged 18.9 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 2.4 assists this past season while shooting 41.6% from the field. His breakout performances, including a 40-point game against Oklahoma and a 50-point explosion during the conference tournament, turned heads across the country.
