Former Texas guard Tre Johnson had a strong freshman season, averaging 19.9 points, 3.1 rebounds and 2.7 assists per game. As a result, he declared for the 2025 NBA draft and is projected to be one of the top picks. He will bring perimeter shooting and all-around abilities to whichever team drafts him. Top 5 NBA Landing Spots for Tre Johnson
#1 Utah Jazz
Heading into the 2025 NBA draft, it appears highly likely that Cooper Flagg and Dylan Harper will be the first two players off the board. There then seems to be a strong chance that VJ Edgecombe and Ace Bailey could be the next two players selected in either order.
After that, the Utah Jazz have the fifth pick, and Tre Johnson appears to be a likely option in that spot. The Jazz are in the midst of a rebuild and could use the scoring punch that Tre Johnson can bring to the team.
#2 Charlotte Hornets
While most mock drafts have Flagg, Harper, Edgecombe and Bailey going in the first four picks, some projections, like Sports Illustrated, have Johnson slipping into the top four and getting selected by the Charlotte Hornets. If the Hornets trade LaMelo Ball, the team could use the versatile scoring of Tre Johnson.
#3 Washington Wizards
While Tre Johnson appears to be the most likely option to go in the fifth slot, the draft opens up after the first four picks. As a result, the order players are selected is less clear. So, there is a chance that Johnson falls to the sixth pick and the Washington Wizards. The Wizards are early in a rebuild and could use help at nearly every position.
Adding Tre Johnson for some scoring punch would make a lot of sense, particularly one who is a great movement shooter.

#4 New Orleans Pelicans
Tre Johnson is expected to be gone by the time the New Orleans Pelicans make their selection with the seventh pick. However, if he is still on the board, the Pelicans would be a good fit. The Pelicans are still trying to make their team work with former first overall pick Zion Williamson, so adding a scoring guard would make sense.
#5 Brooklyn Nets
Very few mock drafts have Tre Johnson falling past the seventh pick. However, almost none have him jumping into the top three either. So, it appears likely that one of the above four teams will select Johnson unless a team trades up. However, draft nights can be volatile, and draft slides happen.
So, if Johnson is available when the Brooklyn Nets make the eighth selection of the draft, he would be a good fit on a team that needs help in many areas.
