Four Blockbuster Trae Young Trade Ideas Proposed by Insider as Hawks Look at Ways to Cut Ties With 4x NBA All-Star

Atlanta Hawks All-Star Trae Young is being linked to a multitude of teams for the next step in his career, but a recent report narrows it all down to four. On Monday, Jan. 5, it was reported that coach Quin Snyder’s Atlanta Hawks are now working with Young to find a trade destination before the 2026 NBA trade deadline in early February.

With speculations and analysis going around on where Young could end up, a recent report by NBA Insiders details four of the most feasible trade proposals for his services. The first team that Young can be dealt to is coach Brian Keefe’s Washington Wizards, but two offers can be made between the Wizards and the Hawks.

The first deal will include a 2031 second-round pick alongside Young, in which the Wizards will have to give up veteran guard CJ McCollum and young studs in Malaki Branham and AJ Johnson, along with a 2026 first-round pick. According to the report, this is the simplest way the Wizards and the Hawks can work out a deal, which is deemed a low-cost bet in terms of salaries for both teams.

The next deal includes the Sacramento Kings, who will land CJ McCollum, in which the Wizards will get Young and a 2026 second-round pick instead. The Hawks will then land a haul of Branham, Johnson, Devin Carter, and Kings standouts in Malik Monk and Dario Saric. However, this is deemed to be a long shot, given the several schematics it entails.

Alternatively, the Milwaukee Bucks are also a team linked to Young, as a pairing between him and superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo could help keep the latter in the Bucks franchise. In exchange for Young, the Bucks are expected to offer Kyle Kuzma, Bobby Portis, and Gary Harris in the deal, along with a 2031 first-round pick.

Rounding out the trade proposals is the Portland Trail Blazers, who currently have fan-favorite and NBA star Damian Lillard lined up, but won’t have him for the foreseeable future, as he is currently out with a torn Achilles. For coach Tiago Splitter’s team to snag Young, they will have to give up a couple of their swingmen in Jerami Grant and Robert Williams III.

Trae Young Has Spent His Entire Career With The Atlanta Hawks

Despite being presumably the face of the Atlanta Hawks franchise of the last eight years, it seems as though Trae Young’s time with the team is coming to an end.

Young was originally drafted by the Dallas Mavericks with the fifth pick in the first round of the 2018 NBA Draft, but he was immediately traded to the Hawks. He is best known for reaching the 2021 Eastern Conference Finals with the Hawks.
