‘Most Connected Team Ever’ — Tom Izzo’s Praise Followed by Shock As Guard Tre Holloman Enters Transfer Portal

Just one day after head coach Tom Izzo praised his Michigan State team for being his “most connected ever,” guard Tre Holloman entered the transfer portal. The junior, who was considered by some to be “the glue guy” for the Spartans, averaged 9.1 points, 3.7 assists and 1.9 rebounds in 23.1 minutes.

Michigan State Guard Tre Holloman Enters Transfer Portal Day After Tom Izzo Praise

Holloman had a plethora of highlights for Sparty this season, most notably a miracle half-court heave at the buzzer to beat Maryland on the road. He put up double-digits in three of MSU’s NCAA tournament games but struggled in the Elite Eight against Auburn, going 0-10 from the field and only scoring two points.

Izzo had high praise for this Michigan State program, which won the Big Ten regular season title after being projected to finish in fifth place.

“Not sure I’ve ever been prouder in a team and there’s so much coach speak and things that go on in programs all over, but these guys gave me everything they have,” Izzo said.

“I drained them of everything, they should take a week off, there’s nothing left in them. And that’s kinda the way it was in the locker room, it was a tear jerking locker room because they knew they spilled it all.”

“All in all, [the] most unbelievable year I’ve had, the most connected year I’ve had and I just appreciate what these guys did for myself, our program, our university and our community.”

Holloman is currently the only Spartan in the portal, just two days after the team’s heartbreaking loss to the Tigers.
