The 2025 NBA Summer League is set to take place and five former Maryland Terrapins stars will represent their alma mater in different teams. Players such as Derik Queen, Julian Reese, Jahmir Young, Selton Miguel and Donta Scott have themselves rostered into NBA summer league teams, which will officially commence on Thursday, July 10, after both the California Classic and the Salt Lake City Classic conclude on Tuesday, July 8.
Queen, who was the 13th pick of the 2025 NBA Draft, will play for the team that drafted him, the New Orleans Pelicans. Both Reese and Miguel went undrafted in the recent draft, but have found opportunities to play in the tournament with the Los Angeles Lakers and the Utah Jazz, respectively. Rounding out the five Terrapins are Scott and Young, who spent time in the G-League last year with their respective teams, the Golden State Warriors and the Chicago Bulls.

With five recent Maryland products making it to the summer league, it serves as a testament to the kind of well-working program coach Kevin Willard and his staff have been putting in. In the 2024-25 season, the Terrapins ended with an overall record of 27-9 (14-6, Big Ten) and made it all the way to the Sweet 16 of this year’s NCAA tournament.
Back on April 1, the Terrapins announced, however, that Buzz Williams has been appointed as the team’s new head coach in the 2025-26 season and moving forward.
