According to reports, the Oklahoma Sooners have added much-needed frontcourt depth with the announcement of a commitment from 6-foot-9 Notre Dame transfer Tae Davis.
The junior forward made this announcement after entering the transfer portal to announce his move to join the Sooners. This must be an excellent coup for head coach Porter Moser, who is trying to strengthen Oklahoma’s roster for a very competitive Big 12 campaign.
Davis is known for his length, athleticism, and defensive instincts, so he will be very helpful in adding the skills required by the Sooners, who want to toughen up their game inside the paint and on the glass.

What Davis Brings to Oklahoma
While he was at Notre Dame, he flashed extended bursts of positional versatility and defensive brilliance. With his height, very long wingspan, and quick lateral movement, he was often called upon to guard nearly every forward, including more enormous wings.
Averaging about 5 points and four rebounds per game in offensive production wasn’t too great, but his impact in other areas made him one to keep in the rotation. He’s much better in the transition, really finishes nicely, and has a shot of becoming an even more consistent scorer.
Oklahoma sees a player with upside, especially on the defensive end, and will develop him into a key contributor.
This Move is Beneficial for the Two Sides
Thus, considering the exits of several frontcourt players, it was clear to Oklahoma that it needed size and experience in the paint. Davis not only fills that gap but also adds more to the Sooners by giving them a player who can instantly contribute on defense and provide several different ways he can be used in various lineups.
For Davis, Oklahoma is the place to reinvent himself and cater to a system that values his defensive mindset. With two years of eligibility left, he’ll have plenty of time to grow into a bigger role. Porter Moser is constructing a highly transfer-laden class, and Davis could quietly emerge as one of the most attentive players in this endeavor.
