The Syracuse Orange are coming off a disappointing season where they went 14-19. Despite a strong run of success in the 2000s, which included a national championship in 2003, the Orange have struggled in recent years. They have not qualified for the NCAA Tournament since 2021 and have not advanced past the Sweet 16 since 2016.
Despite their struggles last season, the Orange performed well early in last season when facing non-conference competition. On Thursday, insider Jon Rothstein reported an in-state non-conference rival that the Orange will be facing next season.

The Syracuse Orange and Binghamton Bearcats will play next season, but the date has not been announced. The team’s full ACC schedule for next season might not be released for a few months, likely in September.
The Bearcats are coming off a 15-17 season, which ended with a 69-66 loss to Albany in the America East Tournament. The Orange should be favored to win this matchup. While the Bearcats have had some success throughout the history of their program, they do not often compete at the level of Power Five programs. The team only has one NCAA tournament appearance in its history, losing in the first round in 2009.

Part of the reason the Syracuse Orange are favored to win against Binghamton next season is because of their historic success in the matchup. These two teams have played five times in their history, and the Orange have won every time. The teams first played in the 2001-02 season with the Orange dominating 103-56.
The most recent matchup between these teams was in the 2013-14 season when Syracuse defeated Binghamton 93-65. The closest matchup occurred in the 2003-04 season, with the Bearcats losing 75-54.
In May, the ACC announced the breakdown for how each of its members’ schedules will break down next season. Each team will have a home-and-home series with a traditional rival and a second home-and-home series with another team. Additionally, each team will play seven home league games and seven away league games. Teams will play all other ACC members except one.
The only team the Syracuse Orange are not set to face next season is Stanford. They will play Pittsburgh and North Carolina twice, and all other teams once.
