Stephon Marbury II, the son of a former NBA All-Star, has decided to enter the transfer portal after just one year with the California Golden Bears. He joined the Golden Bears as a walk-on ahead of the 2024-25 academic year.
Marbury II didn’t play in his first season as a Golden Bear and has now entered the transfer portal following the conclusion of the 2024-25 season. He spent a post-graduate year at DME Sports Academy in Daytona Beach, Fla, before joining UC Berkeley. He had also previously played for St. Andrew’s School in Barrington, R.I., in the NEPSAC Class AA.

Xavier
New Xavier head coach Richard Pitino and his coaching staff have plenty of work to do to build the Musketeers’ 2025-26 roster.
“We have to add a lot of players,” Pitino said. The reality is a high school kid is not in the cards unless something pops up this spring.” This means he’ll be actively looking to the transfer portal for new talents.
Syracuse
The transfer portal for Syracuse Orange is in full motion and the program has started reaching out to guards available in the portal. Syracuse lost guards Kyle Cuffe Jr., Elijah Moore, Lucas Taylor, and Jaquan Carlos this off-season, and they’re looking to replace them.
Virginia
Ryan Odom and his staff have their work cut out this off-season as Virginia lost 10 players to the transfer portal, and they currently have three players confirmed to be on the roster for next season. Marbury II is an interesting option that could be explored by Odom.
NC State
There’s been a coaching change at NC State, so it comes as no surprise that several players have hit the transfer portal. They lost Ismael Diouf, Marcus Hill, Mike James, Ben Middlebrooks, Bruce Heard, and Dennis Parker Jr.
