NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal posed some questions towards his eldest son in Shareef O’Neal, in an episode of his Netflix show. Shaquille O’Neal, who has a net worth of $500 million per Celebrity Net Worth, recently had his new show “Power Moves” released on Netflix which tackles his life with the success he’s gotten with being a basketball player.
In one scene, posted by @netflixspots on Instagram on Thursday, July 3, the Hall of Famer posed difficult questions towards his son, Shareef, regarding his commitment to making it big in the game of basketball.
“Alright, but you know we don’t need basketball. I’ve been around this game since ’89, baby. I’ve seen it all. You got to understand that in that life, you know you have to give up everything, right? How many birthday parties did I miss? How many school plays did I miss? How many times did you wake up and not see me there?” Shaquille O’Neal questioned.
“Are you ready to live that life? ‘Cause if you want to be great, my man, you got to sacrifice everything. I’ve lost a family trying to be great. It’s great at the end because I can help y’all become great, but you’ve got to make sure this is really what you want ’cause if you’re not going to put a thousand percent into it, I say let’s just take Reebok over and get us back to number one,” he later added.

Shareef O’Neal played college basketball for the UCLA Bruins from 2018 to 2020, before transferring to his father’s alma mater, the LSU Tigers, and played for the program from 2020 to 2022. The younger O’Neal then declared for the 2022 NBA Draft, but unfortunately went undrafted.

The clip from Shaquille O’Neal’s show, “Power Moves”, on Netflix is presumably from 2024, given that on October of that year, Shareef O’Neal was signed by the Sacramento Kings. Unfortunately for the now 25-year-old, he was waived the next day by the team and then signed with the Stockton Kings, Sacramento’s G-League affiliate, days later on October 27. Shareef O’Neal was then waived by the aforementioned team on November 7.
“Yeah, on the court, been working out, every day; been looking good, been talking to the coaches and all that…Actually, I got invited to try out for the Kings,” Shareef O’Neal told his father, Shaquille.
Shareef O’Neal is now actively vying for a return to the NBA as the league enters the 2025-26 season, as he is looking to follow in the foundation his father, Shaquille O’Neal, has paved. The latter was a four-time NBA champion, three-time Finals MVP, and the 2000 regular season MVP during his 19-year NBA career.
