Kansas Jayhawks haven’t lost on Senior Day since the 1982-83 season. However, this time, it looks rather precarious for the Jayhawks. After a disappointing season, the Jayhawks will go up against the No. 24 Arizona Wildcats on Saturday afternoon.
The Jayhawks have had a tough time with a two-game skid, most recently falling 65-59 to No. 3 Houston on Monday night. Meanwhile, the Wildcats are coming in after a 113-100 win over Arizona State.
The two last played each other in 2010, and the Jayhawks won 87-79 on a neutral court. However, this time, the Jayhawks have had a season synonymous with inconsistency, injuries, and tough conference competition. In addition, their star player, Shakeel Moore, has been missing from the court. So, will he be returning for the Senior Day matchup?

What Happened to Shakeel Moore? And Is He Returning for a Senior Day Spectacle?
Moore’s season has been rocky, to say the least. His absence has undoubtedly impacted Kansas’ performance. The senior guard has been dealing with a lingering foot injury that has kept him out of action for multiple games. He was missing for the Texas Tech game and even the last matchup against Houston. So will he miss out on his fifth consecutive game or be back on Saturday?
Not so long ago, CBS Sports insider Jon Rothstein took to X.
Kansas’ Shakeel Moore (foot) is OUT for today’s game against Arizona, per Bill Self.

Moore, who transferred from Mississippi State, has averaged 3.8 points, 1.7 rebounds, and 1.4 assists this season but has struggled with staying on the court due to his health.
Moore’s injury dates back to early this season. He initially injured his foot in August and hasn’t been his best self since. The reinjury in February only made things worse for the Jayhawks. Moore has also been missing practice due to the same. This, of course, has left Kansas shorthanded in key moments. However, all hope is not lost just yet. One question still lingers in the air.
Will Shakeel Moore Return for the Big 12 Championship?
As the Kansas Jayhawks prep for their Big 12 Tournament, will Moore be available? Undoubtedly, he has been an essential player on the defensive end. His relentless pressure, quick hands, and ability to disrupt passing lanes have given Kansas an edge in close battles. If he does not play in the upcoming Big 12 Tournament, the Jayhawks will seek help elsewhere.

Moore’s performances show just how integral he has been. In the win over Cincinnati, his defensive intensity turned the tide late in the game. Against Arizona State, his key stops and fast-break opportunities played a significant role.
When speaking to Sports Illustrated after the Sun Devils game, Self has even called Moore “a difference-maker defensively.” So, without him, the Jayhawks might be looking at a significant fall from grace. Or maybe the decision to sit out for the last four matches is a strategic play to recover before the Big 12?
