According to Scheyer, it’s nothing the Blue Devils fans should worry about this summer. In a press conference this Tuesday, the Duke head coach gave the following update:
” He’s (Patrick Ngongba) working out, he is playing, and doing everything. Malik is weeks ahead of schedule from his surgery, where he is at, you know. He dislocated his shoulder twice. You have to be really cautious with that, so he won’t do contact, still, for another four to eight weeks really. But he can do everything basically 5-0. He’s shooting, he’s handling, he’s passing.”
“Just seeing him out there is great. I think both of those guys, not only did they play significant roles for us this past season with what they did, but I think both of them are going to take a huge step forward with their offensive skill set, what they can do in their, in just their comfort being in our program now for a year. So they’re going to be a huge part of what we do”
Freshman Nikolas Khamenia believes that the Duke Blue Devils will win the national championship
The Duke Blue Devils are the perennial national title contenders, having won five national titles. However, it’s been a while since the Durham school has won the big one, with the last national title coming in 2015, a decade ago.
Nonetheless, true freshman Nikolas Khamenia is confident that Duke will be able to challenge for the title in 2025-26, recently telling On3:
“Whatever the team needs to win, honestly,” Khamenia said. “Whether it’s guarding the best players, coming off the bench, starting, being a knock-down shooter, or a guy who facilitates. I think I can put myself in a lot of different situations and be successful with the skills that I bring.”
Nikolas Khamenia is a former five-star recruit from Studio City, California, where he played for Harvard Westlake High. He was ranked as the 15th-best recruit in the nation, the third-best small forward and fourth-best recruit out of California for the class of 2025.
