“I Cannot Do That”: Reggie Miller Gives His Verdict on Stephen Curry’s Inclusion in Top 10 Players of All Time

Stephen Curry is arguably the greatest shooter of all time. He truly changed the game with his prowess in three-point shooting. Steph made his debut in 2009, and in the 16 years since, he has influenced the game arguably more than any other NBA star. He has shown loyalty to the Golden State Warriors over the years and has made history with them.

Despite an evident legacy of both individual caliber and NBA championships, the question often arises about Steph Curry’s inclusion in the top 5 or top 10 players of all time. While most include Steph in their top 10 list, a few still have doubts. Recently, NBA legend Reggie Miller shared his verdict on whether Curry is part of his all-time top 10.

Miller was in conversation with Dan Patrick.

“Obviously, Steph and his shooting, we have never seen it that before on this stage. Um, just like we never saw a guy walk on air like Air Jordan, we never saw a 6’9 point guard like Magic Johnson,” said Miller. “On KD’s point, I mean, he’s seven foot, even though he won’t claim that. And to be able to shoot and score, are they top 10? I would probably put Steph in the top 10 before KD.”

However, later in the conversation, his opinion shifted slightly when he tried to take out players from his top 10 to include Steph Curry.

“So are you taking out Magic? Are you taking out Larry Bird? Are you taking out Kareem? I mean, I can’t take those players out. You’re not taking out Air Jordan. So, I just named five right there. Are you talking Hakeem Olajuwon?” Miller asked Dan. “Are you taking out Shaq? I can’t take out. Are you taking out Kobe?”

Dan’s answers for both were a direct no. However, when Reggie asked about Tim Duncan, Patrick said he would include Stephen Curry instead of Duncan in the top 10.

“I cannot do that. I cannot. I will say this. I cannot take out someone who is the best at their position over Stephen Curry,” Miller said in disbelief.

Fans React to Reggie Miller and Dan Patrick’s Discussion

Fans online had divided opinions about Reggie Miller’s concerns regarding Stephen Curry’s inclusion in the top 10 of all time.

“I gotta question Dan Patrick’s basketball knowledge now,” one fan said.

“Steph is generational talent that changed the NBA,” one fan claimed.

“You cannot put players from the 60’s on the list. Sorry, it was nearly a different sport than what it is now. It was nearly a different sport than the NBA that was played in the 80s,” one fan explained.

“Duncan > Curry > KD,” one fan voiced their opinion.

“Wilt and Bill remain in the top 10. No way they go out,” another said.

“The issue is when you make this list, it’s a combination of your individual ability and the success you obtained. I’m pulling in Curry and kicking out Bird,” another commented.
