Duke Blue Devils forward Cooper Flagg is widely seen as the favorite to be this year’s No. 1 draft pick, and he is now heading to the Dallas Mavericks after the projections rang true. However, Flagg had been teased with his school of choice, with Dallas Wings star and former UConn Husky Paige Bueckers admitting she had been roasting the potential No. 1 NBA draft pick over his choice of school.
Speaking to some reporters, Bueckers, who is the No. 1 2025 WNBA draft pick after leading UConn to the national championship, said that she was “giving him crap” for choosing Duke over UConn. This happened during the first time the two met. This might also be the first time that the city of Dallas has had the No. 1 picks for the NBA and the WNBA drafts.

Bueckers also acknowledged that as No. 1 picks, she and Cooper Flagg have to deal with a lot of expectations from the public as they begin their professional careers.

Unlike Flagg, however, Bueckers is entering the WNBA a little bit older as she was not a one-and-done with UConn, as Flagg was with Duke, staying with the Huskies for several years and winning the NCAA national championship, before deciding to make the shift to the WNBA.
Meanwhile, Flagg only stayed for his freshman year with the Blue Devils, leading the school to the Final Four before bowing out to Houston. He then decided to enter the NBA draft, becoming the favorite to be picked No. 1 overall.
Dallas Mavericks Unveil New Cooper Flagg Jerseys After Officially Picking Former Duke Star
As for the Dallas Mavericks, they did not waste any time in revealing Cooper Flagg’s jersey to the public, as he is set to team up with fellow Duke alum and fellow No. 1 pick, Kyrie Irving. He will be wearing the No. 32 jersey as he plays for Dallas next season.

This jersey reveal also solidifies that the Mavericks are not keen on giving up their potential superstar, which means they will not be accepting any trade offers for him in the near future.
