Notre Dame HC Micah Shrewsberry Shares Hilarious Text He Received During Game From Unknown Sender

In a thrilling ACC matchup, Notre Dame edged out Georgia Tech with a narrow 71-68 victory, bringing their season record to 10-10. The win was a moment of celebration for the Fighting Irish, but for head coach Micah Shrewsberry, the night took an unexpected turn when he received a blunt and unsolicited text message from a fan during the game.

However, instead of ignoring it, Shrewsberry decided to share the message with the media, offering a humorous inside look at the pressures of coaching.

A Random Text Become a Lesson on Humility for Notre Dame HC Micah Shrewsberry

Following the victory, Shrewsberry addressed the press and revealed a message he received at 10:15 p.m. — while the game was still underway. The anonymous sender did not hold back, questioning the team’s organization and the coach’s effectiveness.

“WTF am I watching? Do you have any plays written up because holy ‘S,’ your team is unorganized as h*ll. What are they paying you for?” the text read. Rather than take offense, Shrewsberry used the moment to highlight the ups and downs of coaching, giving the press members present in the room a good laugh.

“That right there, fellas, is a lesson in humility. Because as good as you feel, some people think you stink,” he quipped. His lighthearted response not only won the hearts of the fans and critics but also showed how Micah is a true sportsman who knows how to take and digest criticism.

Shrewsberry’s Optimism for Notre Dame’s Future in the Upcoming Months

Despite the mixed reactions from fans, Shrewsberry remains optimistic about the trajectory of his team. Now in his second year as head coach, he sees Notre Dame as a team still evolving and learning its identity.

The Irish have won three of their last four games, including key victories over Virginia and Georgia Tech, proving they are capable of closing out tight contests.

In a recent interview with On3, Shrewsberry noted that recent conversations with his players have been crucial in defining their playing style and team dynamics. The direct result of this became very apparent when Kebba Njie demonstrated excellent leadership in the final minutes against Georgia Tech, inspiring his teammates to push for the win.

With a challenging ACC schedule ahead, including a Feb. 1 matchup against Miami, the Fighting Irish are focused on building momentum. Shrewsberry remains confident that the team’s recent progress and emerging leadership will translate into more success on the court. For now, though, he’ll have to take the wins — along with the text messages that come with them.
