Northern Arizona has announced the transfer of forward Carson Towt to Notre Dame. The 6-foot-8, 235-pounder also shot a remarkable 56.9% from the field as a senior and averaged 13.3 points per game, 12.4 rebounds per game, and 3.4 assists per game for Northern Arizona last season.
The Arizona native has spent the last four seasons at Northern Arizona but missed the entire 2023-24 season with an injury. Towt led the nation in rebounding last season and had double-digit rebounds in all but six games. The forward also had the sixth-most double-doubles in the country with 20.
Notre Dame Lands Elite Rebounder Carson Towt to Anchor Frontcourt in 2025-26
Notre Dame has landed a key player in Carson Towt. Head coach Micah Shrewsberry will be delighted to have the forward on board for the 2025-26 roster. Towt is expected to play in the “five” position for Notre Dame. The 6-foot-8, 235-pound forward is a shrewd acquisition for the Fighting Irish, and he is widely regarded as one of college basketball’s best rebounders.
Towt will fill the Fighting Irish’s biggest need as they prepare for Shrewsberry’s third year in charge. The forward has the ability to score and distribute passes from the post. He is also an efficient shooter and recorded a 56.9% field-goal percentage, which placed him 29th overall in the country, while his 199 made baskets ranked 94th nationally.
Although Towt struggles a bit from the free-throw line, there is room for improvement in his game, and head coach Shrewsberry will be keen to iron out that part of his game. Towt has never attempted a three-pointer in his career despite his impressive numbers.
Notre Dame will be delighted to have won the race to sign the forward. Carson Towt reportedly turned down interests from multiple programs to join Notre Dame. The Arizona-born forward received interests from programs such as Grand Canyon (GCU), California, Baylor, Xavier, Washington State, Saint Mary’s, Iowa, and several others.

Notre Dame had also been keen on acquiring Nick Davidson from Nevada, but the big man decided to transfer to Clemson. The Fighting Irish also showed interest in Central Arkansas forward Nehemiah Turner, but reports suggest they would not be advancing their interest in him after they landed Towt.
