Denver Nuggets superstar Nikola Jokic suffered an injury during his recent regular-season game, as different camera angles prompted fans to speculate about it. On Monday, Dec. 29, Jokic and the rest of coach David Adelman’s 2025-26 Nuggets roster faced coach Erik Spoelstra’s Miami Heat on the latter’s home floor, the Kaseya Center in Miami, Florida.
During the first half of what was an intense affair, Nuggets swingman Spencer Jones was guarding Heat forward Jaime Jaquez Jr. on a last-minute drive attempt. After contesting Jaquez Jr.’s shot successfully, Jones inadvertently landed on Jokic’s left ankle, causing the three-time regular-season MVP’s left knee to buckle, as Jokic immediately fell to the floor in pain.

Basketball fans online speculated that Jokic’s injury is most likely his knee getting hyperextended, as seen from an angle on social media.
“Clearest angle I’ve seen of what happened, thanks for taking the time to share this,” one user wrote.
“Hyperextended, doesn’t look too bad but that’s a weird spot for that to happen,” another fan claimed.
“It’s just hyperextended, and doesn’t look as bad compared to PG hyperextended,” another user shared, mentioning Philadelphia 76ers guard Paul George.
“Hopefully, it is just hyperextended,” a user said.
Other X users brace themselves as they hope that it is not as severe as it looks in the video circulating on social media.
“Hope it’s not ACL,” one user posted.
“Kinda looks the exact same as what just happened to Cam,” another user pointed out, talking about Nuggets standout Cam Johnson.
“With this video, I can rest easy, it looks like it’s nothing serious. Prayers 🙏🏽,” a fan asserted in Spanish with a praying emoji.
Jokic sat out the rest of the matchup, as the video posted by @theonly1_rob on X/Twitter remains the clearest angle of what happened to the star. The Denver faithful and fans everywhere now hope that the Serbian big man won’t sit out for too long. Jokic is currently in his 11th year in the league, aiming to win his second NBA title.
