It was another massive Final Four turnout in San Antonio, with a capacity crowd of 68,252 for both games on Saturday night. With the Florida Gators taking on the Auburn Tigers and the Duke Blue Devils facing off against the Houston Cougars, it was four No. 1 seeds all doing battle.
How did the total attendance number compare to recent locations?

Florida-Auburn, Duke-Houston Draw Capacity Crowd at Alamodome
It should not come as a surprise that the crowds showed up in droves. For the first time since 2008, all four No. 1 seeds advanced to the Final Four, and the action lived up to the billing.
Florida edged SEC rival Auburn, 79–73, in the first game, while Houston rallied late to defeat Duke, 70–67, in the nightcap.
Saturday’s crowd mirrored the turnout from the last time the Alamodome hosted the Final Four in 2018. The venue has undergone notable upgrades since previously hosting the event in 1998, 2004, and 2008.
While impressive, the Alamodome’s capacity is slightly smaller compared to other recent Final Four venues.
State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona—the site of last year’s Final Four—drew 74,423 for the championship game.
NRG Stadium in Houston hosted 72,423 fans for the 2023 title game.
Other recent hosts with larger capacities include:
- U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis (72,062)
- Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis (71,149)
- AT&T Stadium in Arlington (79,238)
- Georgia Dome in Atlanta (74,326)
- Caesars Superdome in New Orleans (70,913).
Even so, San Antonio’s turnout proves once again that the Alamodome remains a premier setting for college basketball’s biggest weekend.
