Carmelo Anthony is one of the most highly regarded basketball players of his generation. In one year at college with Syracuse, he helped lead the Orange to a national championship in 2003. He then went on to be the third pick in the 2003 NBA draft and a 10x NBA all-star. While he is no longer in the league, his son, Kiyan Anthony, is preparing for his first season in college.
Kiyan Anthony followed in his father’s footsteps and signed with the Syracuse Orange. He is a four-star recruit in the 2025 recruiting class, and according to 247Sports, the No. 32-ranked player in his class.
On Tuesday, influencer Chris Brickley posted a video on Instagram that featured several clips of Kiyan Anthony practicing.
Kiyan showed his impressive shooting video in the video, as well as his strong play around the post, making many difficult shots.
“The first 3 moves from Kiyan Anthony are straight out of Carmelo Anthony’s blood. It’s crazy to see! But at the same time, he’s creating his own game…. he’s on his way to becoming a serious scoring threat! Stay tuned,” Brickley wrote.

This led to a big reaction from people in the basketball community. Additionally, one of the most popular actors in Hollywood today, Sinners superstar Michael B. Jordan, praised Anthony in the Instagram comments.
“Straight bucket,” Michael B. Jordan wrote.

Carmelo Anthony’s Son Will Wear His Number at Syracuse Next Season
Carmelo Anthony’s son, Kiyan Anthony, is following in his father’s footsteps in many ways next season. Kiyan chose to play for his father’s alma mater, and in June, it was announced that he would be wearing his father’s No. 7 jersey.
The Syracuse men’s basketball X account made a post announcing it on June 22.

This is a change from Anthony’s number in high school. While playing for Long Island Lutheran High School, Anthony wore the No. 3.
While Anthony is taking his father’s number, it is not what Carmelo Anthony wore during his year at Syracuse. That year, Anthony wore No. 15. During his NBA career, Anthony wore No. 15 with the Denver Nuggets but switched to No. 7 with the New York Knicks.
