$1,500,000,000 Worth Magic Johnson Shares Heartfelt Tribute As Deion Sanders Beats Cancer

NBA legend Magic Johnson, who has a net worth of $1.5 billion, per Forbes, recently shared a heartfelt message for one of his closest friends, Deion Sanders. On Monday, July 28, Johnson, via his X/Twitter handle, spoke about the NFL legend and the current Colorado Buffaloes head coach, who recently defeated cancer.

Sanders reportedly had his bladder removed in its entirety to be cured of the cancer this past weekend. Like many in the sports world, Johnson is rejoicing over Coach Prime’s health update.

“I’m happy to hear that my friend Deion Sanders has been cleared of cancer. I’ll be praying that God continues to bless him with good health and lifelong prosperity!,” Johnson wrote on X.

Johnson is considered by many to be one of the greatest basketball players of all time, as he has accolades such as being a five-time NBA Champion, three-time Finals MVP, three-time regular season MVP, and being named to the All-Star team 12 times, to name a few. His shout-out to Sanders thus invokes the bond shared by the two legends of their respective sports.

Sanders now looks to return to his coaching duties as Colorado will open its 2025 season on Aug. 29 in a home game against the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets.

Deion Sanders says it is Integral for Everyone to Get Themselves Checked Medically Routinely

On Monday, Deion Sanders, alongside his medical team, held a press conference to share the good news that he was cured of cancer. In one instance, Coach Prime urged everyone to make sure that they seek proper medical check-ups regularly, saying that you never know when a sickness may arise.

“Man, everybody, get checked out, because if it wasn’t for me getting tested for something else, they wouldn’t have stumbled upon this. And make sure you get the right care, because without wonderful people like this, I probably wouldn’t be sitting here today because it grew so expeditiously I would say. But please, get yourself checked out,” Sanders said (via YouTube channel ‘ESPN College Football’) at 4:00.

Sanders now shifts his focus back to his preparations for his third year at the helm of the Colorado Buffaloes’ coaching staff. The Buffaloes are looking to build on the 2024-25 season and uncork a better outing in the 2025-26 campaign, as they finished the recently-concluded campaign with an overall record of 9-3 (7-2, Big 12) and won the 2025 Valero Alamo Bowl by 22 points, 36-14, over the BYU Cougars.
