Luka Bogavac’s decision to join North Carolina for the 2025-26 season adds a much-needed boost to the team’s perimeter scoring. Because of his wide international experience, he is ready to make an immediate impact. He brings top-level shooting, smart playmaking, and strong maturity to the Tar Heels.
Fans may debate how significant his impact will be, as NBA fans are not very familiar with European leagues. However, scouting reports paint a highly positive picture, confirming that Bogavac has everything needed to help lead UNC to a championship. His presence could be the final piece Carolina needs to dominate their conference.
Luka Bogavac’s Skills Shine in UNC Scouting Report, Fuels Championship Buzz
In a recent video, CBB analyst Aaron Torres reacted to the news that North Carolina basketball has added international star Luka Bogavac. This is a major change for the Tar Heels’ roster, as the 6’5″ guard from Montenegro brings immense experience from European leagues.
As soon as news of his commitment dropped, Torres wasted no time in providing a scouting report on the 21-year-old international talent. The most surprising part of the analysis is that Bogavac has yet to debut at the collegiate level, but Torres believes he is already an NBA-ready prospect.
Torres broke down the scouting report, saying, “This guy, the thing I’ll say about him, he is coming to college basketball ready to play next year. First of all, that league was very good. Averaged 15 points per game, 39 or so percent three-point shooting. I don’t claim to be a European basketball expert, but good stats in a good league. Playmaker off the dribble. Kind of the scouting report I’ve been told is great catch and shoot, playmaker with the ball, all of that.”
Bogavac’s international experience adds to his appeal. He has represented Montenegro in major competitions. His ability to score efficiently, create plays, and shoot deep makes him a great fit for UNC’s offense, though his defense might need some work.
His most recent stats from the ABA League are impressive. He averaged 14.9 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 2.3 assists per game. On top of that, he shot 45.1% from the field, 39.9% from three, and a sharp 87% from the free-throw line. His shooting and playmaking make him a natural fit for North Carolina’s offense.

Later in the conversation, Aaron Torres spoke about what Luka Bogavac could mean for North Carolina’s title hopes.
He stated, “You don’t want to oversell anybody… but if this kid clicks the way that we think he can, I don’t think it’s hyperbole to say that Carolina could compete for an ACC title. I don’t know that I’d have him as a favorite today, but I don’t think it’s impossible to envision the scenario.”
Bogavac’s arrival also reflects a growing trend. More international players are choosing NCAA programs.

In the 2023-24 season alone, 826 foreign-born athletes played Division I basketball. UNC is fully embracing that shift. And if Luka adjusts quickly to the new environment, fans might not have to wait long to see him shine on the court.
