Louisville Basketball Transfer Portal: Full List of Players Entering and Exiting

The Louisville men’s basketball program is undergoing an important transition as the NCAA transfer portal opens for the 2024-25 season.

Unlike last year, when head coach Pat Kelsey rebuilt the entire team, Louisville won’t need as many additions. However, a few roster spots still require replacements, and there remains a chance that a returning player could enter the portal.

    Players Exiting Louisville Basketball

Several scholarship players have exhausted their eligibility following a remarkable turnaround that included an ACC Tournament title game appearance and the program’s first NCAA Tournament bid since 2019.

Their impact on the team’s resurgence won’t be forgotten. Players must enter the portal by April 22 to avoid needing a waiver for 2025-26 eligibility. Commitments can happen anytime, with the regular signing period running from April 16 to May 21.

Until now, only one player has entered the transfer portal. Louisville guard Koren Johnson has entered the NCAA transfer portal, announcing his decision on March 28 after a torn labrum cut short his lone season with the Cardinals.

The 6’2″, 175-pound junior from Seattle was set to be Louisville’s backup point guard but played only in the team’s first two games. In a win over Morehead State and a loss to Tennessee, he logged 39 total minutes, recording six points on 3-of-11 shooting, five assists, and three steals.

Johnson began his college career at Washington, where he spent two seasons. He had a breakout year before transferring, earning Pac-12 Sixth Player of the Year honors while averaging 11.1 points, 2.7 assists, 2.2 rebounds, and 1.2 steals across 31 games (five starts). He shot 44.1% from the field and 37.3% from three-point range.

Players Who Louisville Basketball Can Acquire

Amarri Monroe: Louisville needs a forward who can score at a high level, and Monroe could be the perfect fit. The 6’7″, 220-pound Quinnipiac transfer dominated last season, earning MAAC Player of the Year and All-MAAC First Team honors.

He averaged 18.1 points, 9.1 rebounds, 1.6 assists, 2.3 steals, and 0.8 blocks while shooting 40.5% from the field. Monroe scored 20 or more points in 17 games, including a career-best 29. Defensively, he broke Quinnipiac’s single-season steals record twice, securing 62 in his first year and 72 last season.

Adrian Wooley: One of the top-ranked players in the transfer portal, Wooley is a dynamic 6’5″ guard from Kennesaw State. He averaged 18.8 points, 5.2 rebounds, 3.6 assists, and 1.4 steals while shooting 51.2% overall and 42.2% from three.
