With the 2025 NBA Draft less than a month away, teams are beginning to put together their picks with hopes of improving their respective squad for next season. According to Chicago Bulls PG Lonzo Ball, the Charlotte Hornets will have a decision on their hand with his brother, Hornets PG LaMelo Ball.
The Charlotte Hornets could be in the market for a replacement for LaMelo Ball. Should they find that replacement, we may see LaMelo moved this offseason. Lonzo Ball revealed his script for what he believes the offseason has in store for his brother and his brother’s team.

According to Lonzo Ball, LaMelo Ball could be ousted by projected lottery pick and surefire NBA prospect Dylan Harper. Should the Hornets choose to take Harper, Lonzo believes that his brother could move to Los Angeles to play for the Clippers.

“I lowkey got Dylan Harper going to the Hornets, and I got LaMelo going to the Clips,” Lonzo shared while on a recent podcast.
Harper averaged 19.4 points, 4.6 rebounds, and four assists during his one and only season at Rutgers. He is widely projected to be the No. 2 pick on June 25, which currently belongs to the San Antonio Spurs. Harper was named to the Big Ten All-Freshman team.
Harper is a downhill-first big guard who puts constant pressure on the paint and basket. He needs to improve his pull-up shooting, but there is no question about how he gets to his spots and produces. The Rutgers freshman scored 67.6% of his 179 attempted shots at the rim this season, which is a great conversion on incredibly high volume for a 19-year-old.
Harper is a capable defender, although he’s more of an offensive-minded player. Still, he has the size and frame to be solid on that end.
The more pertinent question, particularly as it concerns San Antonio, is how the Scarlet Knights prospect adjusts away from the ball. Harper has done this at previous levels, and he was statistically strong out of cuts and off screens but on tiny volume (37 possessions combined, compared to 314 in the pick-and-roll).

Harper is also the son of Ron Harper, who played in the NBA from 1986 to 2021 for the Cleveland Cavaliers, LA Clippers, Chicago Bulls, and Los Angeles Lakers. His mom, Maria Harper, is an assistant coach at Don Bosco Prep High School and previously played at the University of New Orleans.
She coached Dylan growing up. His brother is Ron Harper Jr., who also played at Rutgers and has featured in 10 NBA games.
