Florida Atlantic guard Leland Walker told @LeagueRDY he is entering the transfer portal following a season in which he averaged 9.4 points, 4.5 assists, and 2.7 rebounds for the Owls. Walker previously played at Eastern Kentucky, earning first-team All-Atlantic Sun honors, averaging 15.4 points and 4.1 assists for the Colonels in 2023-24.
Here are five potential landing spots for the Indianapolis native.

Top Five Transfer Portal Landing Spots for Florida Atlantic Guard Leland Walker
Indiana
The Hoosiers are one of a couple of in-state options that should be attractive to Walker. He played at North Central High until transferring to Hargrave Military Academy for his senior season. They were in on him last season when he entered the transfer portal from Eastern Kentucky.
Purdue
The Boilermakers are as close to Walker’s hometown as Indiana and can offer more consistent recent success to choose from. Purdue has reached the NCAA Tournament 10 straight times. The backcourt tandem of Big Ten Player of the Year Braden Smith and Fletcher Loyer are due to return for their senior seasons in West Lafayette. Still, coach Matt Painter runs a bevy of guards onto the court, leaving options open for Walker.
Xavier
New coach Richard Pitino takes over for Sean Miller, who left for the Texas job and took talented Dailyn Swain with him. Pitino is just beginning to reconstruct his roster and has brought in Valparaiso guard All Wright and his former player at New Mexico, forward Filip Borovicanin. Walker could slide into the spot vacated by guard Ryan Conwell, who transferred to Louisville.
DePaul
Former Butler and Ohio State coach Chris Holtmann took over last season and led the Blue Demons to a 14-20 record, a marked improvement from the 2023-24 3-29 campaign. Guards Connor Enright, David Thomas, and Jacob Meyer have transferred, and, along with some graduations, there are plenty of slots available in the backcourt for Walker.
Providence
The Friars had their worst campaign since 2009-10 under second-year coach Kim English. That resulted in several players transferring out, including forward Bryce Hopkins, to St. John’s.

English also lost top-scoring guards Bensley Joseph to graduation and Jayden Pierre to the portal. Walker could have a similar one-season stay as Joseph, who led Providence with 13.2 points, 3.2 assists, and 1.2 steals.
