Lejuan Watts, a 6-foot-6 guard who just left the Washington State Cougars, has now committed to Texas Tech. He entered his name into the portal last week after playing just one season for the Cougars. He has now found himself a new home.

Watts started all 34 games for the Cougars, and he was the team’s second-leading scorer, averaging 13.7 points, a team-leading 6.7 rebounds, and 4.4 assists per game. He shot 54.9% from the field and 42.2% from behind the arc.

    Who Are Lejuan Watts’ Parents?

Lejuan Watts was born on Oct. 10, 2003, in Clovis, California, to Rachel and Walter Watts. Unfortunately, both parents are no longer alive, and Watts has four siblings. Walter Watts died of a heart attack in 2016. Two years later, Rachel Watts, their mother, died of cancer.

Lejuan’s father, Walter, played basketball for Utah under Rick Majerus and was the team’s second-leading scorer and rebounder on the 1991 Sweet 16 team. His sister Brea played basketball at Colorado, and his brother, Walter, played football at Utah.

Lejuan says he thinks about his mum before a game, and he listens to her voice calming him.

“Before games, I usually listen to music that makes me think about her, and I listen to her tell me to calm down,” LeJuan said. “I can hear it in the back of my head: ‘Just calm down.’ Sometimes I play too aggressive and it comes out, and I can just hear her: ‘Calm down.’ “

Lejuan has four siblings: Walter (36), Bri (30), Alexis (25), and Desean (20). The Watts family are sports lovers, and they always support one another. Walter played football at Utah, while Desean still plays.

“It was so much fun. I don’t think I sat down the entire game,” said Bri after a game they went to watch Lejuan. Bri played four years at Colorado and is familiar with the sport. “Luckily, they didn’t have me on the sideline because I would have been in the game.”

Alexis grew up running track, but like her other siblings, she now supports Lejuan in his basketball career. “It’s a beautiful thing to watch,” Alexis said. “We can’t do it all by ourselves. It takes a community. And LeJuan has a lot of good people around him.”
