LeBron James and Stephen Curry Recall Michael Jordan-Scottie Pippen Strategy to Dissect Their Iconic Matchup

LeBron James and Stephen Curry are two of the greatest basketball players ever. Many people talk about the GOAT debate, and it is between LeBron James and Michael Jordan. However, Stephen Curry’s career has been nothing short of absolutely special. Many include Steph in the best starting 5 in NBA history.

Although Steph’s Golden State Warriors won 3 out of the 4 times. But that 1 time, LeBron James and Cavaliers made history.

Among other conversations the two greats of the game discussed their battles. They watched the clip from iconic 2016 NBA finals on LeBron and Steve Nash’s podcast. LeBron and Steph both shared how none of them had watched it. Steve Nash asked about post to pass.

LeBron replied at 40:05, “It’s the same thing as what the Bulls was doing in the 90s when they would throw the ball into Luke Longley at times.” Steph nodded and agreed with LeBron while watching the film.

LeBron continued, “And now the other actions start happening. Chicago screen pinch post. MJ can come off of it. Scottie can come off. It’s the same kind of concept what they were doing. It was just called the triangle, you know. So, like you [Nash] said, as soon as the ball go into the post, now it action starts.”

James further explained, “Action begins and it’s controlled chaos. But those guys know exactly what’s going on. But we’re just trying to get the chain to move on the defense, you know, and it’s when you have a when you have threats, you know, on the floor at all times, it can disorient the defense.”

Steph then recalled how the Warriors, during that particular move, got Tristan Thompson to guard Curry. Then Draymond Green got free and buried a strong dunk. “It’s my favorite moment where Tristan has to decide,” Curry said.

Stephen Curry Talks About LeBron James’ Work Ethic

Steph and LeBron both very publicly respect each other. They always have only the best things to say about each other and their relationship. Steph recently talked about how much James’ work ethic impressed him.

Steph said, “I’d heard about the work ethic and the sheer volume of time and how he takes care of his body. But when you see somebody on that level, couldn’t beat him to the gym in the morning, but it was like the idea we there was just an energy of like we all know this this is the stuff that makes you who you are on the court that’s going to prepare you for the moments when the lights are bright.”

He continued, “I don’t even think we talked about it. It was just a unspoken like this this is what this is what you do and I learned that you know early in the process to know like don’t take that for granted so that you can be your best self.”
