LeBron James Discloses His Favorite Thing About Lakers Teammate Luka Doncic

LA Lakers superstar LeBron James recently revealed what he loves the most about his superstar teammate Luka Doncic. During an interview with Jason Gay of The Wall Street Journal, James was asked for his thoughts on five-time All-NBA First Team member Doncic, who has been garnering headlines for his summer workouts and being in tip-top shape.

Doncic signed a three-year, $165 million contract extension with the Lakers earlier this summer. With this, four-time NBA champion James will continue to team up with Doncic for the foreseeable future in hopes of bringing the Lakers their 18th championship.

“I just love the way he approaches the game. I love the way he plays the game. More importantly, man, he’s just a great f*cking guy. Big-time savant of the game. I always use IQ as a measuring point in basketball, guys who can think the game. There are so many guys in our league who can play the game, but to be able to think the game as well puts you at another level,” James was quoted as saying.

Doncic now ramps up for the upcoming 2025-26 season after leading coach JJ Reddick’s Lakers alongside James to an overall record of 50-32, which was good for the third seed last year.

In his half of a campaign in Los Angeles, the Slovenian native averaged 28.2 points, 8.2 rebounds, 7.7 assists, and 1.8 steals per game in an average of around 35.1 minutes.

In the same article, NBA Commissioner Adam Silver gave his thoughts on the Dallas Mavericks trading away Luka Doncic on Feb. 1. Silver asserted that there definitely was disappointment for Doncic upon hearing the news, but he has since used this summer to recalibrate his mindset.

“Putting aside the merits of the trade, you could argue that it was a bit of a kick in the a** to Luka. He didn’t try to sugarcoat this trade. Another player could have said, ‘Oh, now I’m part of the Los Angeles Lakers organization.’ He didn’t try to hide his disappointment, and I think he was in a bit of a funk for a while, because it was probably the first true professional setback of his career,” Silver said.

“And, I was hoping personally for him that he would ultimately see this as an opportunity to reset,” he added.

Doncic will enter his eighth season in the league in the 2025-26 campaign, as he is slated to bounce back with the LA Lakers from their first-round exit in the 2025 NBA Playoffs. They were eliminated by the Minnesota Timberwolves, 4-1, in their best-of-seven series.
