“I’m Tired, I’m Exhausted”: Gilbert Arenas’ Ex-Wife Laura Govan Shares Emotional Message Before Alijah Arenas’ Surgery

This has been a troubled year for Gilbert Arenas’ son, Alijah Arenas. In April, he got into a car accident and had to be put in an induced coma. Recently, he was diagnosed with a knee injury that is going to keep him away from the game for at least six to eight months.

A few hours ago, his mother, Laura Govan, posted a video on her Instagram story, giving an update on Arenas’ impending surgery.

“I take this drive EVERTIME I LEAVE MY HOUSE,” Govan wrote. “This am is a little different. Another drive with my BIG baby @alijah0arenas for his surgery.”

Govan’s heartfelt note for her son also included a prayer for god, asking to bless the 18-year-old on this journey. She wrote:

“God I’m tired. I’m exhausted. I’m asking for your grace and mercy as we travel for another chapter. I know you got me JC you ALWAYS DO! Continue to give me strength that you always seem to provide when I feel this way. In YOU I pray, Amen.”

Arenas is a five-star recruit and 2025 McDonald’s All-American. His high school stint with Chatsworth was very successful, and the talent he showcased brought him into the limelight. In his three years of high school, Arenas scored a total of 3,002 points and became the top scorer in CIF LA City Section history.

Because of the knee injury, Arenas will be away from the game for months. USC coach Eric Musselman has said that they are looking “forward to supporting him during this process.” While not having Arenas in the camp is disappointing, coach Musselman made it clear that his health is the top priority.

Gilbert Arenas revealed his immediate reaction to Alijah Arenas’ crash

In April, Arenas crashed his Tesla Cybertruck into a tree. The vehicle caught fire, and the doors jammed from inside. Arenas couldn’t step out for at least 10 minutes, inhaling a lot of smoke inside. He was pulled to safety by bystanders. After his crash, Gilbert Arenas appeared on The Dan Patrick Show and revealed his immediate reaction:

“Usually I wake up at 4:30 and I go through the Tesla app to see if he’s heading home or at the gym. His car is at the gym, so I continue my workout and my daughter said, ‘What are you doing?’ I said, ‘I’m working out.’ She said, ‘You haven’t heard? Your son just got in an accident.’ ‘At the gym?’ ‘No he’s at the hospital.’”

The three-time All-Star said that he later realized the app had malfunctioned and he wasn’t getting the accurate information. As heartbreaking as the accident was, Arenas was happy to know that his son suffered no major injuries.

The doctors had to put him in an induced coma because of the protocol for such cases. Days later, Arenas returned home and started his recovery process.
