La La Anthony Calls Out Kiyan for Leaving Carmelo Off His GOAT List in Viral Debate

Kiyan Anthony is the son of NBA legend Carmelo Anthony and La La Anthony. In a conversation with his mom on “Complex,” the mother and son talked about their GOATs in various categories. Towards the end of the video, Kiyan Anthony spoke about who he would want to have sitting courtside. His answer resulted in a big reaction from his mom.

“Goat person to have sitting courtside – Drake,” Kiyan Anthony said (Timestamp 7:45).

“The fact that you didn’t say your dad is crazy,” La La Anthony responded. “The only time you sit courtside is with your dad, so how could you say?”

They then got into a discussion about the GOAT basketball player. La La Anthony started the conversation.

“Mine is this kid I know named Kiyan Anthony, because for nine months of my life, I threw up every single day, nine times a day. Laid on the cold bathroom floor because I had the worst and most difficult pregnancy ever. So, that is why, seeing you now on the court and being so amazing, you make your mom so proud. You are my GOAT basketball player.”

After thanking his mom, Kiyan spoke about his GOAT basketball player.

“My GOAT is Paul George. Paul George is the best player ever. Kobe, Paul George, Carmelo Anthony,” Kiyan Anthony said with a smile.

La La Anthony then threw the cards at him before saying:

“The fact that you didn’t say your dad first is crazy to me.”

Kiyan Anthony Is Following in His Father’s College Footsteps

While Kiyan Anthony joked by briefly not including him on his GOAT list, it is clear that he loves and respects his father. Before starting his legendary NBA career, Carmelo Anthony played one year with the Syracuse Orange in the NCAA. The 2002-03 season was his only college season, but he was able to help the Orange win the national championship. He was named the NCAA Final Four Most Outstanding Player.

Now his son, Kiyan, is following in his footsteps. Kiyan Anthony is a member of the 2025 class and is signed to join the Syracuse Orange. Anthony is a four-star recruit and the No. 36-ranked recruit in the 2025 class, according to ESPN.

He is part of a solid recruiting class for the Orange that includes three four-star recruits and one three-star recruit. The other two four-star recruits are power forward Sadiq Qhite and shooting guard Luke Fennel. Small forward Aaron Womack is the three-star recruit joining the team.
