Did you know Carmelo Anthony’s ex-wife La La Anthony was on Drake’s ‘In My Feelings’ music video? To many, this may sound surprising. But those who know, La La Anthony and Drake are actually good friends. In a recent appearance on “Complex HQ” with Speedy Morman, Anthony revealed how she actually ended up in the music video.
La La spoke about how she’s a huge Drake fan and how they have good ties. When Drake asked her if she wanted to play Kiki in the music video, La La Anthony replied,
“Hell Yeah! Like why wouldn’t I?”
Being in a Drake music video, La La Anthony had a lot of fun doing that shoot. She added how people in New Orleans still talk about the same. However, given the global phenomenon that the song soon became, Anthony was flabbergasted by the amount of views the video drew on social media.
“Last I checked,I haven’t checked in a while, I don’t remember the number but it was something crazy. It was like, this video has like, i don’t know, like 400 million? I don’t know how many but this was wild,” she added.
And it wasn’t just a random ask Drake made to La La Anthony. The two are really good friends and this was just another act of friends featuring each other in their work. Maybe, we might as well see La La Anthony in another Drake video pretty soon!
Drake always had a great relationship with hoopers
Drake has always had good relationship with college basketball players and hoopers in general. His most prominent relationship was with John Wall and the Kentucky Wildcats. He also became friends with several other hoopers in the meanwhile between 2009 and 2010 like DeMarcus Cousins and Patrick Patterson.
Drake even adapted the Kentucky Wildcats as his college basketball team. He gave a shoutout to the team in his song called “Scholarship” and also became close with Wildcats coach John Calipari, even attending games and coaching an alumni game. Furthermore, following his beef with Kendrick Lamar, he has fallen out with LeBron James, despite forging a good relationship earlier.
Besides, Drake also has a great relationship with NBA teams and is considered the global ambassador of the Toronto Raptors. However, many have also criticized him for being a ‘bandwagon fans,’ only supporting the successful players and teams. On the other hand, rappers such as Kendrick Lamar have genuine NBA connections, even having his cousin Nick Young playing for the Los Angeles Lakers.
